Monthly Music Recommendations: Top 5 Christian Songs for May 2026
It’s time for May flowers. And with them, May music recommendations.
“Though I Walk” by Tekoa
“Funky” is the word that comes to mind when listening to this song. Each instrument has a unique personality, yet they fit together like a perfect puzzle. A chaotic foundation of drums and piano is punctuated by trumpets, and the lyrics proclaim Psalm 23 in a bright celebration of God’s presence. The diversity of beats in this song reminds me of Romans 14:11, “As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.”
“SOS” by PARTYWAVE
Forrest Frank is back at it again, this time partnering with artist Noah Hayden to create a surf-rock Christian album. The entire album is enjoyable, featuring fun, laid-back beats. The most popular song so far is “SOS.” It’s goofy and encourages a go-with-the-flow attitude. The chorus repeats, “SOS, this is a search and rescue / Just say the word, and this love will come and get you.” Even in surf culture, there are believers striving to honor God in all they do.
“I Know You’re Hurting.” by Raye
Although the lyrics feature mild profanity (including d**n and b***h), this song offers encouragement to persevere when things are hard. Raye—the international pop star who went viral with the song “WHERE IS MY HUSBAND!”—recently released the album THIS MUSIC MAY CONTAIN HOPE. It’s rife with Christian undertones. “I Know You’re Hurting.” includes the lyrics, “I know it’s hurting / Pray Lord, have mercy / I know He’s working.” The massive scale of the production might blow you away, and it points to the ultimate source of hope and comfort.
“GLORY VOICE MEMO” by Justin Bieber
Although the rest of the album features profane and suggestive lyrics, this under-produced, intimate track highlights Bieber’s true vocal talent and raw emotions. It’s a short piece that gets straight to the point, a tiny testimony from Bieber’s own heart. Perhaps the most honest of all his songs, it’s well worth a listen.
“I Asked the Lord (Live)” by Indelible Grace Music
The lead singer’s voice is youthful, and his passion for the Lord is unmistakable. “I Asked the Lord (Live)” is the most traditional option on this month’s list. Drawing on hymns of the past, Indelible Grace Music brings this song to the light in a powerful way.
Thank you for joining us this month! Stay tuned for our June recommendations and let us know what you thought of the songs!
