‘The Chosen’ Season 4 Given a Groundbreaking Theatrical Release Schedule

Angel Studio’s enormously popular series depicting the life of Jesus continues to shake up the entertainment industry. As has been a staple of the show since its surprising breakout success in 2017, The Chosen is once again venturing into uncharted territory by announcing that all eight-episodes of its upcoming fifth season will receive a theatrical release through Fathom Events.

Series creator, Dallas Jenkins, shared: “Every time we’ve dipped our toes in the theatrical waters, viewers have overwhelmingly told us they want more. After seeing the Season 4 episodes, we knew we’d be doing our fans a disservice if we denied them the chance to see them all on a big screen with others they can laugh and cry with,”

Multiple episodes will release at a time and run for a two-week period. The release schedule is as follows:

Episodes 1-3 — February 1

Episodes 4-6 — February 15

Episodes 7-8 — February 29

This is not the first time a popular television series has made the jump to the big screen. The latest Star Wars series, Ashoka, released its highly anticipated fifth episode as a limited theatrical event. Similarly, The Rings of Power, Amazon Studio’s Lord of the Rings series, previewed its first two episodes for one night only in select theaters. Even recent seasons of The Chosen have experimented with releasing the season opener and finale in theaters (with great success). To give an entire season of a show a theatrical release, however, is unprecedented and a testament to the growing cultural footprint the series has established in recent years.
