Marvel Star, Letitia Wright, Thanks God in Powerful Acceptance Speech

Actress Letita Wright, best known for her portrayal of Shuri in Marvel’s Black Panther series, is one of the most talented young actresses working in Hollywood today. Following the tragic death of co-star Chadwick Bosemen, Wright was forced into an even bigger role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and she demonstrated in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever that the role is in capable hands. Wright continues to excel in front of the camera, but she’s not losing sight of the source of her strength behind the scenes.
Last week, the Guyana-born actress was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Guyana. In her powerful acceptance speech, she discussed her faith journey.
Despite achieving success, Wright felt God call her to give up acting temporarily. She shared that God told her, “Because I want your heart. Because when I have your heart, it cannot be tainted by what the world has to offer.” During her career break, she experienced joy and understood that her identity and purpose come from God, not Hollywood.
While acceptance speeches by the so-called “Hollywood elite” are often ridiculed as frivolous and out-of-touch, Letita Wright’s message was a refreshing showcase in humility and faith. The entire speech below is worth watching, but her spiritual testimony begins at 12:25.
